Dashboard

The dashboards in Trustlytics allow you to summarize various types of analysis data on a single page to facilitate analysis. You can customize the dashboards to fit your website and goals, and optimize them specifically for your analysis users and use cases. For example, a CEO may want a set of reports to get an overview, while a digital marketing team may need different information as they develop a content marketing strategy.

Access to dashboards

To access your dashboards, please select the word “Dashboard” in the top menu. Then click on the “Dashboard” option in the main left navigation.

Important: Here you will find a list of the available dashboards, including a default dashboard named “Dashboard”. If you have created custom dashboards, they will be listed below.

Note: If you have more than five dashboards, only the name of the currently selected dashboard will be displayed, next to which there is a dropdown arrow. By clicking on the name, you can load the complete list. Additionally, there is a search bar to easily find specific dashboards.

The dashboards consist of various widgets that contain reports based on the analyzed data. Trustlytics has about 100 interactive map widgets, all displayed in a clear format. The screenshot below shows a typical dashboard that includes different types of widgets and provides important statistics for your website.

Add a widget

When you click the “Dashboard” button in the top menu, a submenu will open.

Under “Add a widget” are the main titles of the widgets. When you hover over the titles with the mouse, the available widgets will be automatically displayed on the right side.

Once you have found the desired widget that you want to integrate into your dashboard, you can click on it.

The widget is always placed in the top-left corner.

Move the mouse to the top edge of the widget now. The mouse cursor will change to a symbol for moving. Click and hold the left mouse button. Now, move the mouse to the desired location where you want to place the new widget. You will notice that the widget follows your movement.

After you have found the desired location for the widget, make sure that a dashed box is displayed around the widget. Once this is the case, you can release the left mouse button and the widget will be placed in the selected position.

Important: If the dashed box is not visible, and you release your mouse button, the widget will return to its original position. If you don't notice the dashed box at first, move your mouse more precisely over the desired location until the dashed box appears.

To remove a widget, move the mouse over the widget. Some symbols will appear in the upper-right corner. Click on the symbol with the “X”.

A pop-up window appears asking if you want to remove the widget. If you click on the “YES” button, the widget will be removed from the dashboard.

Create new dashboard

A dashboard design is considered successful if it has a utility. Therefore, it is advisable to keep the user and their requirements in mind when developing new dashboards.

Usually, the most relevant metrics should be highlighted so that they are immediately recognizable. It is also advisable not to insert too many widgets, as this can slow down the page loading times and make it unnecessarily complicated.

Note: It is advisable to first familiarize yourself with the standard dashboard to avoid wasting time recreating existing views. The best time to create a dashboard is when you want a specific collection of reports.

When you click the “Dashboard” button in the top menu, a submenu will open.

Navigate to the end of the submenu and select the option “Create new dashboard” by clicking on it.

A pop-up window appears where you can enter the name of the dashboard and choose whether you want to start with the default dashboard or an empty dashboard.

For our dashboard, we choose the name “Goals” and opt for the empty dashboard. Then we confirm our selection by clicking on the “OK” button.

A new pop-up window appears and informs you that you now need to select a widget (since you have selected the empty dashboard). Simply click on the “ADD A WIDGET” button.

Under “Add a widget” are the main titles of the widgets. When you hover over the titles with the mouse, the available widgets will be automatically displayed on the right side.

Under “Goals” we have the widget “Overview”. Therefore, select the widget “Overview” and repeat the process for two more arbitrary widgets.

After this task is completed, you will see that the widgets are listed neatly one below the other. Now you can change the display. First, we will adjust the layout of the dashboard.

Go to the “Dashboard” button in the top menu and click on it. The submenu will open. Navigate to the end of the submenu and select the option “Change dashboard layout” by clicking on it.

A pop-up window appears, in which you can choose between 9 different layouts. We select the column layout with three equally wide columns by clicking on it.

After completing the process, you will automatically be taken back to the dashboard. As you may have noticed, the appearance of the dashboard has not changed. However, you now have the option to move the widgets.

Move the mouse to the top edge of the “Overview” widget. The mouse cursor will change to a move symbol. Click and hold the left mouse button. Now, move the mouse to the right of the other widget where you want to place the “Overview”. You will notice that the widget follows your movement.

A dashed box should be displayed around the “Overview” widget. Once this is the case, you can release the left mouse button and the widget will be placed in the selected position. Please repeat the process for the last widget and position it next to the “Overview” widget.

After completing the process, the 3 widgets are positioned side by side, providing you with an excellent overview of the data.

You have successfully created your first custom dashboard! Now you have the opportunity to create additional dashboards that meet your specific requirements.

Manage dashboard

You have the option to reset, customize, rename, and delete the individual dashboards.

Important: Please note that it is necessary to first select the dashboard in the left menu that you want to manage.

To manage a dashboard, simply click on the “Dashboard” button in the top menu. This will open the submenu where, at the bottom under the title “Manage Dashboard,” you will see four different options. By clicking on the corresponding function, you can then customize and manage the dashboard according to your preferences.

At this point, we would like to explain to you what is hidden behind the functions:

A pop-up window appears, in which you can choose between 9 different layouts. Select the layout that appeals to you the most and click on it.

After completing the process, you will be automatically redirected back to the dashboard. Depending on how the previous layout looked, you may need to reposition the widgets.

Rename dashboard

A pop-up window appears where you can change the name of the dashboard.

Once you have done this, press the “SAVE” button.

Remove dashboard

Click on the option “Remove dashboard”.

A pop-up window appears, and you will be asked if you want to delete the selected dashboard.

If you are sure to remove it, please click on the “YES” button. Please note that the removal cannot be undone.

Important: It is not possible to remove the default dashboard.
